Deadlines: circle what really can't slip

Version 1.55.0 ·

  • A new Deadline switch (a flame, top right of a to-do or goal, off by default) is for the things that can't slip. Every date stays soft unless you switch it on; on, the screen takes a warm border and tint.
  • A deadline is circled in hand-drawn red wherever you see it: the day number in Month, the To-dos, Week, Day, Agenda, search, the Wall and the kids' boards. A birthday gets a green double loop on its day. Overdue ones stay red and never slide away, and one you finish keeps a faint circle with a tick for the rest of the day.
  • A 🔥 button after the microphone appears when you have a deadline coming or overdue, and opens the list: Overdue, Today, Tomorrow, This week, Later, with how long is left, and a tick to finish one. On your own device it shows yours and the family's shared ones, and an Everyone switch adds the rest. On a phone it is the Deadlines row in the ⋯ menu, with a red dot when one is overdue.
  • The Wall's Tomorrow strip and Coming up lane show the family's upcoming deadlines. Private and Work ones never appear there.
  • Reminders: a new deadline reminds you the evening before and the morning of, or an hour before when it has a time, in words like “Deadline tomorrow”. Switching one on doesn't pop up a reminder that has already passed. The morning rundown, by push and email, puts today's and overdue deadlines first.
  • By voice, “pay the tax bill by Friday” makes a deadline, while “on Friday” stays soft; the card has a Deadline chip you can turn on or off. Search finds deadlines by the word “deadline”.
  • The old Board button is gone from the top bar. In Russian, the work status “On call” now reads «На дежурстве».
  • The website has a What's new page with this log, feature pages, guides and comparisons, all in English and Russian except the comparisons.
  • Every device reloads once after the update; the Wall by itself. Your family's data keeps working as it is, and apps older than 1.55.0 are asked to reload.

Beta polish: calmer sync, a tidier Wall, and a lot of small fixes

Version 1.54.0 ·

  • Syncing is lighter: a device first asks the server whether anything changed, and only then downloads. A small “Saving…” or “Offline · 3 changes waiting” pill says where your changes are, the Wall shows “Updated 9:41” when it hasn't heard from the server for a while, and you can pull down to refresh To-dos, Lists and the phone calendar.
  • The Wall is easier to read from across the kitchen: a text size you choose (Large, Extra large), rows that fit their card with a “+N more” bar that never cuts a row, and a status on each person's card (at work, traveling, on the way, or your own words) until a time you choose. It shows on everyone's Wall.
  • A new Private | Work switch next to your picture replaces the Work buttons, with a slim band while Work mode is on. In Notes, Work and School mode shows your Work notebooks, and a notebook made outside it says where it went.
  • To-dos and kids: deleting a single one-off item is immediate with an Undo, a kid's finished chore moves along with a gentle animation and a haptic tap, step XP goes to the right child, and the ⭐ count stays current.
  • Lists, meals and mail: shopping mode is on by default for grocery lists, recipes can have a photo, and a new notebook made in Work mode stays put.
  • First run and Settings: a friendlier first start, a tagline on the sign-in screen, and Time zone, Weather, Rewards, Photos, Routines and Meals moved into a Settings → Home tab. A second parent can claim their own person on their own device, and the other parents are told.
  • A calmer look: one shared set of spacing, motion and pop-ups, Calm motion in Settings → Appearance, and the top bar squeezes neatly on a 7-inch tablet.
  • Every device reloads once after the update; the Wall by itself. Your family's data keeps working as it is, and apps older than 1.54.0 are asked to reload.

Work mode in Notes, and a caution tape

Version 1.53.1 ·

  • Notes has a Work button now, next to the count, as To-dos and the calendar do: in Work mode your Work notebooks show.
  • Saving a Work notebook outside Work mode says where it went: it shows only in Work mode, and “Turn on Work mode” opens it.
  • Work mode is easy to spot: a thin yellow tape that says “Work mode” runs across the screen while it's on, instead of the shaded frame.

Notes 2: sections and subpages, sharing per notebook, tables, toggles and colours

Version 1.53.0 ·

  • Notebooks have sections, and pages can have subpages. Put pages in your own order: drag them on a computer, Move up / Move down or Move to… on a phone. Recent and Favourites sit at the top of the list.
  • Share a notebook the way you want: the whole family, chosen people, or just you (a private notebook, shown after Show private). Choose who may change its pages, and mark a notebook as Work or School. Moving a page where more people will see it asks first. Notebooks also work on phones.
  • New in the note editor: tables (Tab moves between cells), folding toggles, folding headings, text colours and highlight colours, and a “/” menu to add any block.
  • Every device reloads once after the update; the Wall by itself. Your notes and notebooks keep working as they are.

Notes: a real editor, and two people writing at once

Version 1.52.0 ·

  • Notes have a real editor: headings, bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, highlight, lists and checkboxes look the way they will, with no more ** or # marks. A toolbar sits above the text; Markdown shortcuts (# , - , [ ] , **bold**) and keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+B, Ctrl+Shift+9…) work too.
  • Two people can write in the same note at once, even offline, and both keep their words.
  • Your notes were converted; there's nothing to do. Every device reloads once after the update; the Wall by itself.

Repeating checklists: credit cards, monthly bills and weekly jobs, with fresh ticks each time

Version 1.51.0 ·

  • New → Checklist (parents): Credit cards, Monthly bills, Weekly house reset, Seasonal home upkeep, Pet care, Month-end at work, or your own. Each line can have a day, an amount, autopay and a person.
  • Each month or week has its own ticks. Tap a checklist to tick its lines, mark a bill paid (with the amount and a note), scheduled or skipped, or mark everything paid at once, with Undo. History shows every month and every line.
  • Change a checklist for this month only or from now on: earlier months keep what they had. A week that wasn't finished offers "Carry them over" or "Let them go".
  • It shows as one row in To-dos ("1 of 4 · $340 left · next: Amex Friday"), with one Overdue row when an earlier month isn't finished; on the calendar on each due day; on the Wall for the family's and the kids' checklists (amounts hidden unless you choose to show them); in search and the Archive. Work checklists stay in Work mode, and private ones on their person's devices.
  • Reminders come grouped, one per checklist per day ("2 due Friday: Visa $120, Amex"), a few days before and again on the day if still open. Bills remind only parents, autopay lines never remind, and a tap opens that month. The morning rundown lists what's due today.
  • A kid's own checklist (Pet care) can pay stars when every line is done.
  • Typing a card or account number shows a warning with "Keep the last 4": InVenn doesn't need the number.
  • Every device needs this version: older ones are asked to reload, and the kitchen tablet reloads itself.

The morning rundown and the second parent: one calm message a morning, a way in for the other parent, and a password you can reset yourself

Version 1.50.0 ·

  • A morning rundown for each parent: one notification with today's appointments by person, what's waiting for your OK, tonight's dinner and this week's birthdays. Settings → Notifications: on or off, the time, "Also by email" and "Send me one now". A day with nothing in it sends nothing, and kids get none.
  • Calm notifications: in a new family, a kid's finished chores and reward asks come together, at most one notification every 30 minutes (none if a parent OKs them first), and a phone starts with quiet hours 21:30–7:00. Any family can switch it on in Settings → Family.
  • When the other parent hasn't joined after two days, the administrator's To-dos and the Wall offer "Invite Ben". A grown-up who joins sees three "what's yours today" cards on their own device for their first week.
  • Forgot your password? The sign-in screen emails a link for a new password to your confirmed email. Setting it signs out every device that used the old one.
  • Email checks: a "Confirm your email" link after sign-up (not needed when you signed up from your code email), a "Did you mean gmail.com?" hint while typing, and changing a confirmed email takes a link sent to the new address.
  • Parents' phones hear when a device joins ("New device: Lily's iPad"), someone signs in or the other parent joins, and a confirmed email gets "New sign-in to InVenn".
  • Settings → Account → Sign-ins and devices: the last 90 days of joins, sign-ins, removed devices, role and PIN changes and wrong passwords, for parents.
  • The privacy policy says what's new: the optional morning email, the links we send, and the sign-ins log (kept 90 days, without addresses).

Round 1 fixes: turns that pass on, timers that keep ringing, one card per event, and a sturdier server

Version 1.49.0 ·

  • Days away pass a take-turns chore to the next person who's home, and "every week" turns change on the chore's own weekday from November 1, the same on every device.
  • Stars, money and XP follow a time changed on its own: a renamed or moved "This one" keeps what it earned and counts in its streak and in Kids' week, which puts things in the week they were for. Steps' XP is paid with the OK, "Take away money" stops at what's in the jar, and "Just once" rewards stay used.
  • The calendar: an event both parents have (or a holiday in two calendars) is one card with both people; picking a person keeps the family's appointments; a repeat can't end before it starts. An appointment for several people shows them all on the Tomorrow strip, in its reminder and on the Board.
  • Reminders: "The morning of" an early appointment comes an hour before it, there's "The evening before", phone notifications follow the phone's clock (17:30 on a 24-hour phone), and one dismissed in the app isn't pushed to your phone again.
  • Kitchen timers ring until you tap Stop, carry on after Cook mode closes (a chip takes you back), send a notice when the screen is off, and "1 hour 15 minutes" is one timer. Russian amounts read right after adding up or scaling, and boxes, bags, cartons, tubs and dozens are units.
  • Notes and messages keep asterisks as typed, and links can be tapped. Search with a person picked narrows lists, notes and mail too, and the Notes and Archive searches find every word. Archived lists and notes can be deleted from the Archive, and the Wall's grocery sheet says when something's already on the list.
  • Deleting a repeating item asks "This one / This and following / All of them", as Change does, and "This and following" keeps what's done. Questions that aren't dangerous have no red button, and Back on "What kind of goal?" goes back to the tiles.
  • The AI assistant: a grandparent or nanny gets the mic only when the family allows it, answering its question keeps your changes to the cards, Cancel asks first, and only the administrator can keep a test case. On the kitchen tablet, "Ask for more" asks which parent is asking.
  • When syncing keeps failing, a notice says why until it works again. Parents can delete done to-dos older than a year, the kitchen tablet updates itself when nobody's using it, and a parent can make their own device the family's tablet.
  • Signing in: strangers guessing a password can no longer lock your family out, and checking passwords no longer slows syncing down. Help on the sign-in screen sends feedback straight to us. Easier-to-read letters on light person colours, and names in the right form in Russian.

First impressions: search that finds everything, a calendar that reads well, and a Wall that's full from day one

Version 1.48.0 ·

  • Search finds lists, notes, recipes and your mail too, not only the calendar: every word, in any order, in an appointment's place, a to-do's steps or a list's notes, and «елка» finds «ёлка».
  • The calendar: the Week view takes the room it needs and a tap opens a card; the Month view shows appointments first and a day's chores as one count; "+N more" no longer covers anything.
  • The Wall: a kid with no chores yet has "Add their first chore" on their card, the Week shows "+N more" when a day has more than fits, and the Tomorrow strip has an arrow to what's further along.
  • New on the tablet has Chore and Meal, as the phone's + does. Every form starts with the title, appointments have no priority to pick, and they're called appointments everywhere.
  • Getting started can add two starter chores for each kid in one tap and asks for the weather town; it finishes for one person, or a couple without kids.
  • The item pop-up shows a long title in full with a tap, how it repeats ("every Tue, Thu · until Dec 16"), and its reminders.
  • The mailbox asks before throwing away a message or a reply you started, also on Back, Cancel or another conversation. Back answers Quick add's and Cook mode's questions on a phone.
  • When the family's AI adds are used up, the mic says so before recording, and a parent can tap "Ask for more".
  • Easier to read: Light colours with more contrast, Russian words that fit on narrow phones and in the item pop-up, the top bar's people as pictures when the names don't fit, Kids' week names on their own line on a phone, and numbers that agree with their bars.

Right numbers, right reminders: XP that adds up, pocket money once a week, reminders only for whose they are

Version 1.47.0 ·

  • XP adds up on every device: two devices ticking things at the same time keep both (before, one could be lost). Taking a tick back takes back what it earned then, and a chore sent back with "Not yet" stops counting.
  • Weekly pocket money is the same on every device, whatever its language (a family with English and Russian devices was paid twice, and the Russian ones a day late). A week paid twice before counts once.
  • Reminders pop up on someone's own device only for their things, the family's and the people they get reminders for; the kitchen tablet has everyone's. Dismiss and Snooze are for that device, an edit brings a reminder back only when its time changes, an appointment that's over doesn't remind, and quiet hours and the night screen keep it silent.
  • A chore sent back with "Not yet" on an earlier day shows as its own late row with why, until it's done again (not as missed). An away kid's routines don't show those days.
  • Removing someone asks what happens to their to-dos and chores: delete them, give them to someone, or leave them for anyone; take-turns chores carry on without them.
  • A kid's chore made by Quick add, the AI assistant or the mailbox earns the family's stars and XP, as one made with the form. "Someone else" on an appointment for several people hands over that one person.
  • "Add milk to the grocery list" adds to the family's Groceries (or a list with that name), and meals add to the family's list too. Ingredients that don't add up get a line each, and ones bought for a meal aren't put back.
  • Two people writing in the same note keep both: the other's words are kept below, under their name. Two devices logging a tracker at once keep both entries.
  • A forgotten parent PIN can be set again with the family's password, and on the shared tablet a parent without a PIN is asked to set one the same way.

Safer on the server: only parents' devices do parents' things, and removing someone signs them out

Version 1.46.0 ·

  • Removing someone from the family signs out their own devices and their own sign-in (the question says how many).
  • OKs, stars and money, the rewards store, routines, meals and the family's settings can only be changed from a parent's device, on the server too. From a kid's phone, a device that joined with a code, or the shared tablet before a parent's PIN, such changes are put back. A parent's PIN on the shared tablet lasts while they use it.
  • A kid's own phone gets only their own messages, and no parent's PIN (making it the shared tablet again asks the server).
  • Codes for adding a device are now 8 letters and numbers (like ABCD-2345). A new device becomes a parent's only with that parent's PIN, or from a parent's phone, and the shared tablet with a parent's PIN. A parent's first PIN is set on a parent's device.
  • Clear Local Data also signs the device out of the family, so it gets no more of the family's notifications.
  • Settings → AI assistant → Latest requests shows the words of your own requests only.
  • Deleted things are gone from the server after their 30 days in the trash (deleted for good: at once). Each family has room for about 8 MB; if it's full, the app says so and keeps new things on the device.

Notes with their formatting, family announcements and mail search, the Archive, trackers, pictures for people

Version 1.45.0 ·

  • Notes show their formatting (headings, bold, bullets), and a tap ticks a [ ] box in the text; a tap on the text edits it. Two people ticking boxes at once keep both.
  • The mailbox: write to Everyone (one announcement, “Read by Mama, Jacob”), reply to one person only, and search all the mail.
  • The Archive: newest first, search and kinds, a tap opens a thing, the day it was done; notes can be archived; kids open the Archive and see their own things.
  • Trackers for anything (water, reading, push-ups): a daily goal, a chart of the last two weeks, units in your language, and phones can make one.
  • A picture for each person: an emoji or a photo (Family members), on the Wall, the top bar and everywhere their initial was.

Kids and parents: each kid's week at a glance, routines copied and finished late, money in any currency

Version 1.44.0 ·

  • Each kid's week (Kids' week, under More; or in Rewards): every chore day by day (done, missed, sent back, waiting for an OK), their routines, the stars and money that came and went, this week or the four before.
  • Kids see their own week too (My week).
  • Routines: Copy to… gives another kid the same routine; one not finished by its end time stays a while (“not finished, 3 of 5”) to finish late.
  • Money in rubles and other currencies (any three-letter code); a family in Russia starts with rubles; the weekly allowance's limit fits the currency and says what it is; the money reward idea is in the family's currency.

The Wall: the week at a glance, the weather, birthdays coming up, to-dos by the part of the day, pictures on to-dos

Version 1.43.0 ·

  • The week at a glance on the Wall (Week, next to the people): each day's appointments, birthdays, to-dos and dinner.
  • The weather on the Wall: now, today's high and low, and each day's in the week (pick your town in Settings → Family → Weather).
  • Birthdays in the next two weeks are on the Tomorrow strip (“Grandma's birthday · in 3 days”).
  • To-dos on the Wall in the parts of the day (morning, afternoon, evening), the part it is now marked; one whose time has gone by says so.
  • A to-do can have a picture, for kids who can't read yet (one is suggested from its name).
  • The top bar: rewards, routines, the archive and the family members are under More, each with a word on what it is.

Meals: groceries added up and by aisle, recipes for more people, paste a recipe, timers in Cook mode

Version 1.42.0 ·

  • Ingredients to the grocery list: tick what you need first (salt and oil aren't ticked), and the same thing is added up (2 eggs and 3 eggs: 5 eggs).
  • Grocery lists show things by aisle (fruit and vegetables, dairy, meat…), on the Wall too; the list's settings turn it off.
  • A recipe for more or fewer people: the amounts follow, in Cook mode and on the grocery list too.
  • A website that won't let apps read its recipe: paste the recipe's text and it's filled in. More websites' recipes are read.
  • Cook mode: tick the ingredients as they go in, and a timer from a step's minutes that beeps when it's up.

Lists: two people at once, family lists anyone adds to, the grocery list on the Wall

Version 1.41.0 ·

  • Two people changing a list at the same time keep both changes, entry by entry (a note's checklist too).
  • A family list (the list's settings): anyone adds to it and ticks it, kids too; each entry says who added it.
  • The grocery list on the Wall: what's still to get, and a tap to tick things off or add more (“Who's adding?”).
  • Quicker typing: Add item puts the cursor in the new row, empty rows aren't kept or counted, Reorder moves entries up and down, and cards show what's left to get first.
  • The per-entry date and person are gone (they led nowhere); Share copies the list on a computer.

Calendar: appointments for several people, the Day view as long as things last, a second reminder, holidays

Version 1.40.0 ·

  • An appointment can be for several people (“Also for”): it shows on each one's card and calendar, and reminds each of them.
  • The Day view shows things as long as they last, side by side when they overlap; a tap on a free hour starts something at that hour.
  • Reminders: “1 day before” and “The morning of”, and a second reminder.
  • Monthly on “the 2nd Tuesday” (or the last); the calendar remembers Month / Week / Day / Agenda; a tap on a date opens that day; the family's appointments in its colour.
  • Search finds things on any date; linked calendars go a year back; public holidays in one tap (Settings → Calendars).

Invite the other parent by email; an Account tab; one family time zone; Help on the Wall

Version 1.39.0 ·

  • Settings → Account → Invite: the other parent gets an email and sets their own password, and their phone is theirs straight away. No temporary password to pass on (it's still there if you'd rather).
  • Settings → Account has the sign-ins, changing the email (the old address is told) and the password, handing over the administrator role, signing out and Delete our family.
  • The family's time zone has its own card in Settings → Family and can be changed; every device goes by it unless it picks its own. Any time zone, with search.
  • Notifications in one place (Settings → This device), with quiet hours, and a parent's phone can also get a kid's reminders.
  • Devices can be renamed (the pencil by the name). Help on the Wall (the ?) has short answers and Send feedback, no mail app needed; feedback can say where to answer.

Chores that go round: Not yet with a reason, OK all, up for grabs, days away

Version 1.38.0 ·

  • “Not yet” can say why; the kid sees it on the chore and gets a notification. The list of chores to OK is by kid, with “OK all”.
  • A chore that's nobody's is up for grabs: whoever does it gets its stars. “Lily did it” gives someone else's turn to whoever did it.
  • Days away (Settings → Family): vacation or sick, their chores are off those days — nothing missed, no broken streaks.
  • Changing one of the “each does their own” copies can change all of them.
  • Stars never show below 0 (and it says why); rewards can be once a day or just once; OK'd rewards wait in “still to give” until given.

Move it to another day, or change just one time

Version 1.37.0 ·

  • A to-do's or appointment's pop-up has quick buttons: Today, Tomorrow, Next week, Pick a day, and (for a parent) Someone else. A repeating one changes only that time. Undo is in the message.
  • Changing a repeating to-do or appointment from one of its times asks: This one, This and following, or All of them.

Colours, appointment times, and a family of one

Version 1.36.0 ·

  • An appointment without an end time lasts 30 minutes: one added by voice gets its end like one made in the form, and Change no longer shows 9:30 AM for it.
  • Settings → Family → People → Colours: pick each person's colour.
  • A family with only one person so far sees nothing about several people (no Everyone or Nobody's, no Family card on the Wall, no person to pick, no mailbox). It all comes back when someone else is added.

Pop-ups that behave, and today's appointments in the to-do list

Version 1.35.0 ·

  • Today's appointments are in the to-do lists too, under Today, in time order, with "Now" on the one that's on; a tap opens it. Family appointments show in everyone's list.
  • On the Wall, finished to-dos move below the ones still to do.
  • Back on a phone closes the pop-up on top instead of leaving the page, and closing one with something typed in it asks first.
  • On a phone the keyboard no longer covers what you're typing (forms, the mailbox, the AI assistant).
  • Reminders have a Done button for to-dos and say whose they are; several at once come in one pop-up, and a reminder waits while another pop-up is open.
  • The AI assistant says "Listening…" only once the microphone is on, has Stop waiting when it's slow, and keeps your changes to the cards when you answer its question.
  • Level up: a tap closes it, it follows the sound setting and Reduce motion, and the kitchen tablet shows it when the XP came from a parent's phone.
  • Deleting all of a repeating item takes one tap (Undo is in the message), and pop-ups work better with screen readers and a computer keyboard (the PIN pad takes typed digits).

Fine-tuning: friendlier dates, the Wall in time order, safer PINs

Version 1.34.0 ·

  • A to-do's or appointment's pop-up says "Today · 4:00 – 5:30 PM" instead of 2026-10-05; appointments show where (a tap opens the map) and their link, and a chore shows what it earns and how many times in a row. A goal's milestones can be ticked right there.
  • Times look the same everywhere, by the device's own clock (5:30 PM), and the month view shows each one's time.
  • Repeating appointments are never marked "missed" or "done" any more: they simply happen. "Add time" keeps the to-do's own day (and says "Change time" when it has one).
  • On the Wall, today's appointments come first in time order, with "Now" on the one that's on; the ones already over fade to the bottom, and a tap opens any of them.
  • Levels go up properly (6 and 7 were skipped, and above 480 XP the level shown was too high: it now shows the right one), a level is celebrated once, and a kid's new chore earns 5 XP to start with.
  • Kitchen tablet: a parent without a PIN is warned that anyone could use the tablet as them, the PIN pad has "Forgot your PIN?", and changing someone's role or making a device a kid's asks first.
  • Getting started: done steps fold into one line (a phone shows the next two), it waits for a kid and for every parent's PIN, a tablet can become the Wall right there, and Settings → About brings the list back.
  • The phone's five tabs fit on the screen, the tablet's Notes, Lists, Meals and Board buttons have their names, and "Task" is "To-do" everywhere.
  • Two looks from now on, Modern Dark and Modern Light (Settings → Appearance, or the phone's ⋯ menu). A device that used the original Default look opens in Modern Dark.

Get your code: no more waiting for an invite

Version 1.33.0 ·

  • A new family gets its code on invenn.app at once: name and email, and the code is on the screen, with step-by-step instructions (start your family, use it anywhere, put it on an iPhone, Android or computer, bring in the family). The same comes by email. One code per family.
  • The link in that email opens the app's New household with the code and email already filled in.

Contact us, and the limited AI trial

Version 1.32.0 ·

  • Adding things by voice is a limited trial during the beta: 200 voice adds for each family. Settings → AI assistant shows how many are left. Answering the AI's own question doesn't count again. If you run out, write to us.
  • Settings and Profile always have a back arrow, also right after changing the language.
  • The website has a Contact page (invenn.app/contact): questions, ideas and problems reach us there too, along with Send feedback in the app.
  • InVenn is under active development: features are still being finished and fine-tuned, new ones keep coming, and a few smaller ones may change or go away. During the beta the service may sometimes be unavailable for updates or a move to another server; every family's things are backed up daily. Your suggestions and problem reports help decide what comes next.

InVenn in Russian

Version 1.31.0 ·

  • Settings → Appearance → Language: Automatic (like the device), English or Русский. Each device has its own; the sign-in screen has English · Русский at the bottom.
  • In Russian, everything a family sees is in Russian: the screens, reminders and notifications (each device gets them in its own language), the messages from the server, What's new, the tester guide, the privacy policy and terms, and adding things by voice. Names and anything your family typed stay as they were written.
  • Russian has the 24-hour clock, dates with the day first, and weeks from Monday.
  • The website invenn.app is in Russian too (Русский at the top), and now shows the big-screen view and Work mode.

TabletTasx is now InVenn

Version 1.30.0 ·

  • The app has a new name, InVenn, a new icon (three circles: the family's days), and a new address: app.invenn.app.
  • Each device moves there by itself the first time it opens on the old address: it shows "TabletTasx is now InVenn", saves what's new, and opens the new address still signed in, with its own settings. Afterwards, add InVenn to the Home Screen again (and remove the old icon), and change a kiosk app's or bookmark's address.
  • An iPhone's Home Screen app keeps its own sign-in, so there the old app shows an 8-digit code instead: add InVenn to the Home Screen from Safari, open it, tap Join and type the code.
  • invenn.app is InVenn's own website: what it does, the plans, and a form for families to ask for an invite.
  • Settings → Premium: Plus is for up to 10 devices.

Subtasks you tick, and clearer switches

Version 1.29.0 ·

  • A to-do's pop-up lists its subtasks: tap one to tick it off, tap it again to take it back, and the progress bar moves with them.
  • Subtasks can have a percent of the work each (they add up to 100%). Set some and leave the rest empty: Save shares what's left between them. With none set, each counts the same. The Progress bar now moves 1% at a time.
  • Setting a time on a new to-do asks which day it's due (unless it repeats), and Notify switches itself on once, with a short glow; switch it off if you don't want a reminder.
  • Every switch shows clearly in every theme, in a small area of its own, and Recurring has a card of its own that says how it repeats.
  • The red NEW button with the falling drops is in every theme now, as big as the buttons next to it.

Reminders that arrive, and a safer beta

Version 1.28.0 ·

  • The server works out the reminders itself and sends them on time, even when no device has the app open (before, a phone or the Wall had to have opened it in the last day and a half).
  • Notifications turn on by themselves: the first time the app opens on someone's own device it asks to allow notifications and the microphone, and switching on a reminder turns notifications on ("Turning on notifications for this app…") if they aren't. A reminder that already arrived as a notification doesn't pop up again in the app later.
  • Settings → Family → Household shows which devices get notifications (whose, what kind of device, when the last one arrived), and has "Sign out all other devices". A device nobody opens for 90 days (and that gets no notifications) is signed out by itself.
  • Private things and a grown-up's work go only to that person's own devices; the others don't download them any more.
  • Safer underneath: Google and Microsoft sign-ins are kept encrypted on the server, the pages tell the browser to run only the app's own code and talk only to its server, the reminder beep is made in the app, and the Day view reads right with a screen reader. For whoever runs the server: sudo tabletasx-admin push shows the devices, the next reminders and the last ones sent.

Work and school

Version 1.27.0 ·

  • Settings → Family → People → Work and school: switch on someone's Work list (a kid's School list). Their to-dos and appointments then have a Work (or School) switch, and Quick add a Work column.
  • On their own device, the Work button (next to Today; on a phone, after the to-do count and the month) shows only their work things, in a shaded frame that says "Work mode". It's remembered on that device, and anything added from inside it starts as work.
  • Outside Work mode a grown-up's work to-dos are out of sight everywhere (the Wall, Everyone, other devices, the activity log), and their work appointments show only on their own devices, with a briefcase. A kid's school things show as usual, with a school cap.
  • A calendar link can be someone's Work calendar (Settings → Calendars): its appointments count as their work.
  • The AI assistant knows "for work" and "for school", and things said in Work mode start as work.

Ticks that stick, and a safer server

Version 1.26.0 ·

  • A tick isn't lost any more when two devices change the same chore at about the same time (say Lily ticks it on her phone while Mama makes it more urgent on the computer). Each day's done, waiting-for-OK and skipped now keep their own time, so both changes stay.
  • When a device can't save its own copy (its storage is full), it says so at the top: "This device couldn't save its copy". It goes away by itself once saving works again.
  • For whoever runs the server: each night's backup also goes off-site, encrypted (sudo tabletasx-offsite). Alerts come to your phone when the app stops answering, a backup fails or the disk is nearly full, and new feedback comes there too. "sudo tabletasx-admin usage" shows how each family uses it, week by week, as numbers only. Restoring a family from a backup now works as the guide says (the backups are root's own files). The server's own settings can live in deploy/server-settings.env and go along with npm run deploy.
  • The privacy policy says where the backup copy is kept (Backblaze, encrypted), that feedback reaches us through ntfy.sh, and that the days each device was used are kept for 120 days.

"Open calendar & lists" opens the calendar

Version 1.25.1 ·

  • From the Wall, "Open calendar & lists" now always opens the calendar and lists. Before, it went back to Notes, Lists, Meals or the Board if one of those was open when you went to the Wall.
  • The privacy policy names the server's host (GreenCloud, in the USA), and the guide for testers has Meals, Priority and two-way Google Calendar.

Two-way Google Calendar, for each person

Version 1.25.0 ·

  • An appointment for Mama made in TabletTasx now goes into Mama's own Google Calendar, and changes there come back here (the newer change wins). Repeating ones repeat there too, and one time deleted here is left out there.
  • Settings → Calendars, on each Google account: "Send Mama's appointments made in TabletTasx" (on at first) and which of her calendars they go to. Family appointments (not anyone's in particular) can go to one account's calendar, or nowhere.
  • Appointments that came from Google Calendar can be changed or deleted from their pop-up (Change and Delete), by a parent or the person whose calendar it is. For a repeating one, it's that time only.
  • Accounts connected before this ask once more: "Sign in again to allow adding". Until then they keep reading, as before.
  • Deleted in Google Calendar → the appointment goes to Deleted items here (a parent can restore it), and the activity log says so. Outlook stays read-only for now.

Meals, the recipe box, and priority you can see

Version 1.24.0 ·

  • Meals (next to Lists in the top bar, and a Meals tab on phones): the week's dinners, days across. Tap a day to type what's for dinner or pick a recipe, and who's cooking. "Copy last week" fills the empty days. Breakfast, lunch and a snack too, if you like (Settings → Family → Meals).
  • The recipe box: search, tags, and each recipe's ingredients and steps. Add one by hand, or paste a link from a recipe website and it's filled in for you to check. Cook mode shows one step at a time in big letters and keeps the screen on.
  • "Add ingredients to the grocery list" from a recipe, a planned dinner, or the whole week: anything already on the list isn't added twice, and each line says what it's for ("for Tacos (Tue)").
  • On the Wall: "🍽️ Tonight: Tacos" under the date (tap it for the recipe), and tomorrow's dinner in the Tomorrow strip.
  • Kids see the plan and can suggest a dinner: it goes to a parent's mailbox, and "Accept" puts it on the plan.
  • Priority: a to-do's pop-up has ↑ and ↓ to make it more or less urgent. Today, Tomorrow, Overdue and No date put the more urgent first; This week and Later still go by date (the more urgent first within a day).
  • Each to-do has a soft glow across its top in its priority's colour: red (urgent), orange (high), yellow (medium), green (low), light blue (none). Appointments, the calendar's lists and the Wall show it too.
  • For the server: calendar links and recipe links are checked when the connection is made (not only before), and each device can only fetch so many in ten minutes.

The Wall's photo screen saver

Version 1.23.0 ·

  • Photos for the Wall (Settings → Family → Photos): add photos from a phone's camera roll or a computer. They're made smaller first (and turned the right way up) and kept on the family's server, up to 300. Pick some to remove them.
  • Settings → Wall → Screen saver → Photos: when nobody has touched the Wall for a while, the family's photos one after another, shuffled, each fading in and slowly drifting closer, with the time, the date and the next thing today in a corner that moves now and then. A new photo every 10 s, 20 s or minute.
  • Without the server (or with no photos yet) the clock shows instead. The clock screen savers can now be on plain black.
  • For the server: each family's photos are files next to its database (in the nightly backups; Reset and deleting a family remove them), only parents' devices remove them, and the health check says when the disk is nearly full.

Routines: morning, after school and bedtime, one big step at a time

Version 1.22.0 ·

  • Routines for each kid (⋯ → Routines on a phone, the ☀️ in the top bar, or Settings → Family): start from Morning, After school or Bedtime, or from scratch. Pick the days and times, the stars, and the steps, each with a big picture, a few words and a timer if you like. Move steps up and down, try it out, pause it.
  • At its time a routine shows at the top of the kid's card on the Wall, their own board and their To-dos ("☀️ Morning routine 2 of 6"), and the next one later today shows small.
  • The routine player is made for kids who can't read yet: one step at a time, a huge picture, tap it when it's done, a big ring that fills up, and a timer for the steps that have minutes. On the Wall it asks "Are you Lily?" first, like her chores.
  • The last step: "All done!" with confetti and a chime, and the routine's stars (once, even when the steps were ticked on two devices). Un-ticking a step takes them back.
  • The activity log says when a routine was added, changed, removed or finished.

Stars, a rewards store, an allowance, confetti and streaks

Version 1.21.0 ·

  • Chores earn stars ⭐, separate from XP (XP still gives levels). A new chore earns 2 by default; the ready-made chores have their own. Settings → Family → Rewards & allowance can give stars to the chores you already have.
  • The rewards store (the 🏆 in the top bar, ⋯ → Rewards on a phone, or a kid's ⭐ on the Wall): kids see their stars and tap "Get it". A parent OKs it (it's in "to OK" with the chores, and on parents' phones); "Not now" gives the stars back. Ideas to start: screen time, pick dinner, stay up late, an ice cream trip.
  • An allowance, if you want one (off at first): chores can also earn money, which goes into Save, Spend and Give jars. Write down what you paid out, move money between jars, and set pocket money every week.
  • Confetti when a kid gets stars: over their card on the Wall (also when a parent OKs it on their phone) or full screen on their own device, with a soft chime. With Reduce Motion on, a glow instead.
  • Streaks: 🔥 how many times in a row a chore was done, and days in a row with every chore done. 3, 7, 14 and 30 in a row give bonus stars.
  • For the server: a new kind of synced data for the newer features (rewards now; routines, photos and meals later), clocks that run ahead can't win every change any more, and old stars and money lines are added up by month so syncing stays small.

Ready for other families: safer, a privacy policy, feedback, and a better first day

Version 1.20.0 ·

  • A new family's first minutes: sign-up asks your name and makes you the administrator; a Getting started list (at the top of To-dos, the Tasks panel, and a chip on the Wall) ticks itself off as you add your family, set your PIN, add a first chore, set up the kitchen tablet, put the app on your Home Screen and invite the other parent.
  • Add a person in one sheet: name, Parent / Kid / Other, a birthday (it can go on the calendar) and a colour.
  • The chore form starts with the title, has ready-made chores (Make bed 🛏️, Feed the pet 🐱, Homework 📚…), is for the first kid, and asks for a parent's OK only for kids. Priority, subtasks and the calendar switch are under More options.
  • Parent-only things are checked by the server too: resetting, devices, sign-ins, AI settings, calendars and people's roles and PINs. A kid's own phone can't make itself a parent's. On the kitchen tablet, a parent's PIN lets it do those for half an hour.
  • The other parent can have their own sign-in (Settings → Family → Household), and the administrator can delete the whole family there.
  • Forgot your password? On the sign-in screen. Help & support, the Privacy Policy, the Terms and Send feedback are in Settings → About; Send feedback is also in the phone's ⋯ menu.
  • Sign-up asks you to agree to the Privacy Policy and Terms. New families start with AI off for kids. Nobody picks AI models any more: the server uses the ones chosen in the tests.
  • The badge for chores waiting reads "✓ 1 to OK" on phones too, and an empty To-dos says how to add the first one.
  • For the server: one invite code per family (tabletasx-admin invite), backups that include recordings and photos and say when they fail, a written and tested restore, app errors and feedback kept for tabletasx-admin, and a health check that tests the database.

One pop-up for every to-do, progress, the Wall and Settings in tabs

Version 1.19.0 ·

  • Tap any to-do (or anything on the calendar) to open its pop-up, with the same buttons everywhere: Delete, Complete, Add time, Progress and Change. The buttons that used to slide over the row are gone, so lists are calmer on phones.
  • Progress: how far along a to-do is, from 0 to 100%. Drag the bar in the pop-up or the to-do's form; at 100% it asks whether it's done. It shows as a thin line under the to-do everywhere, and puts it in In Progress on the Board. For a repeating one it's for that time; the next time starts at 0.
  • The Today board is now the Wall, so it isn't mixed up with Board. Its screen saver no longer comes on as soon as the Wall opens at night: it waits for a few minutes without a touch.
  • Settings → Wall → Screen saver: on or off, at night or any time, after how many minutes, and a new Drifting clock that moves slowly so nothing burns in. "Show me" previews it.
  • Settings are in tabs: This device, Wall, Appearance, Family, Calendars, AI assistant, Server & data, and About.
  • The AI assistant: an item is for whoever has to do it ("Ask Jacob…" is yours), it asks for the fastest server, and the backup starts alongside Gemini after 8 seconds instead of replacing it.
  • Fixed: the browser's Back (or Android's back gesture) sent a parent back to the Wall and forgot them; a late to-do from 6 days ago showed its date in the afternoon instead of the day's name; a kid could tick off a family appointment without a parent.

The AI assistant, with the models chosen and a backup

Version 1.18.1 ·

  • The AI assistant uses Gemini Flash, which listens to the recording itself. It did best in the tests: 99.6% on spoken requests, in about 3 seconds.
  • If it fails or hasn't answered after 12 seconds, a backup (Whisper → GPT Luna) answers instead. Settings → AI assistant says so, and the administrator sees it under the cards.
  • Three combinations to choose from in Settings: Gemini Flash, the backup, and Claude Sonnet to compare.
  • For the server: npm run deploy -- --ai-keys puts the AI keys from backend/ai-keys.env into the server's settings.

The AI assistant: say it, check it, save it

Version 1.18.0 ·

  • A mic button ("Say it") next to New and Quick, on the Today board, and next to + on phones. Say what to add, or type it.
  • The AI turns it into to-dos, events, lists, notes and birthdays, as cards you can change or remove before saving. It asks one short question when something important is missing.
  • Kids use it for their own things only (the administrator can switch that off), with the same limits as New.
  • Settings → AI assistant: on or off, a monthly spending limit, which AI models to use, how each has done (saved, changed, cost, time), and test cases.
  • For the server: the AI keys (OpenRouter, OpenAI, Google Gemini, Groq) stay on the server, and a test kit (npm run ai:eval) compares model combinations on quality, cost and speed.

To-dos first on the phone, tiles everywhere, and Add time

Version 1.17.0 ·

  • Phone: To-dos is the first tab and Today is gone. To-dos starts on you, then Everyone, then the rest, with one slim line for your level, today's progress and Show private.
  • Phone: your calendars and "Sync now" are at the top of the Calendar tab.
  • Tap a to-do anywhere for Complete, Add time and the eye button. Add time sets a new day and time (today, an hour from now to start with) for a one-off to-do with a date.
  • The same slim tiles, touching and every other one a shade apart, on the tablet's Tasks panel and the Today board (bigger there).
  • The tablet's Tasks panel has the same person chips as the phone: you first, then Everyone together in the same sections.
  • Done today starts open everywhere.

The phone's To-dos: everyone together, in slim tiles

Version 1.16.0 ·

  • To-dos → Everyone puts everyone's things together: Today has everyone's today, Tomorrow everyone's tomorrow, and so on. Each row's circle has the person's colour and initial.
  • Rows are slimmer tiles that touch, every other one a shade apart. Tap one for Complete and the eye button, which opens the details (Change, Delete…).
  • Repeating things are split: "Repeating" for a parent's own (trash day, invoices), "Chores" for the kids' and the family's (also on the tablet).
  • The phone no longer has the Family board tab (the wall screen is for the tablet); To-dos → Everyone shows the family's.

A kid's own device, kids' own to-dos, and PINs in Settings

Version 1.15.0 ·

  • On a kid's own device nobody can switch to a parent, with a PIN or without. A parent changes things from their own device.
  • Kids open Settings on their own device and see their own: appearance, the opening animation and notifications.
  • Kids can add to-dos, chores and appointments for themselves from New, and change or delete the ones they made. No XP for those, and nothing for anyone else.
  • The administrator can let a kid make private things (Settings → People). They show only on the kid's own device, after "Show private".
  • "Show private" is now also in Calendar & lists, on the family board and in the phone's ⋯ menu, not only on your own board.
  • Settings → People: each parent sets their own PIN; the administrator can remove one. With a PIN, nobody uses the shared tablet as that parent without it.

Whose task, private things, and the activity log

Version 1.14.0 ·

  • The family board's to-dos show Complete and View when tapped, like a person's own board.
  • Completing or deleting someone else's: a parent is asked first ("This is Jacob's to-do — complete it for Jacob?"). A kid, or nobody picked on the shared tablet, is asked to switch to that person; parents need their PIN.
  • Private things show only on their person's own device, after "Show private" there (PIN for parents, remembered). Never on the shared tablet or anyone else's device, whoever is using it.
  • Settings → Activity: who added, changed, completed or deleted what, when, and on which device. Private things aren't included, and devices can't take entries back.

Whose device, and Premium in Settings

Version 1.13.0 ·

  • Joining the family with a code, or signing in on a new device, asks "Whose device is this?": a person, or the shared family tablet. Picking a parent asks for their PIN.
  • On someone's own device only the administrator can switch people, and it shows the family and that person's own tab and filter.
  • Settings → Household → Devices shows whose each device is. The administrator can change it there, and the device follows within a few seconds.
  • Only the administrator changes whose device it is, or clears a device's data.
  • Settings → Premium: Plus (full sync, unlimited devices, off-site backups) and Plus with AI (voice add), each with "Tell me when it's ready". No prices yet.

Time filters for Tasks, and the private switch fixed

Version 1.12.2 ·

  • Tasks in Calendar & lists: All · Today · Week · Month · Overdue at the right of the header. Week is the next 7 days, Month the next 30.
  • The phone's To-dos tab has the same filters, under the person chips.
  • The private switch on a person's board no longer gets stuck on "Your private things are showing" after changing a to-do: Hide hides them again.

Change log in Settings

Version 1.12.1 ·

  • Settings → App version lists every version and what changed in it. Only the administrator sees it.
  • The version this device is running is marked.

Tasks grouped by when, your own first

Version 1.12.0 ·

  • The Today / Overdue / This Week / Unassigned chips and the Daily / Weekly / … pills are gone. People + search is the one filter. "All" is now "Everyone" and "None" is "Nobody's".
  • The Tasks panel shows your tasks first: Overdue, Today, Tomorrow, This week, Later and No date, then Repeating chores, Goals and Done today. Everyone else's are folded below.
  • Repeating chores have their own section, with "every Wed", "Mon, Wed, Fri" and so on. Take-turns chores show each person their own next turn.
  • The phone's To-dos tab uses the same sections.
  • The private switch on a person's board no longer disappears after editing a task, and the tab counts match the board.
  • For the server: npm run deploy builds, uploads and installs a release in one command.

"Tomorrow" only for tomorrow

Version 1.11.1 ·

  • Coming up on a person's board called its first day "Tomorrow" even when it was days away. Each day now shows its real name.

Notifications on phones

Version 1.11.0 ·

  • New mail, answers to requests, chores waiting for a parent's OK, and reminders arrive on phones, even with the app closed.
  • Turn them on per phone: ⋯ menu → Notifications, or Settings → This device.
  • iPhone: in the Home Screen app (iOS 16.4 or later).
  • The Home Screen icon shows how many things are new.
  • Needs the hosted server.

The phone app

Version 1.10.0 ·

  • Installable: Safari → Share → Add to Home Screen gives a full-screen app with its own icon.
  • A phone layout: Today, Calendar, To-dos, Lists, Notes and Family board tabs, swiping between them, and a + button for adding.
  • Opening animation: today's calendar page tears open like doors (Settings → Appearance).
  • Opens offline, and shows "New version — tap to reload" after an update.
  • Server setup: checks first, shares a server with other sites, and moves the Google sign-in keys without copying the secret.

Hosted server with households

Version 1.9.0 ·

  • One server can host many families, each with its own data.
  • Devices sign in: create a household, sign in with a parent's email and password, or join with a 6-digit code.
  • Settings → Household: add or remove devices, change the password, sign out.
  • Move a family with a backup file (Settings → Data).
  • A setup script for an Ubuntu server, with HTTPS and nightly backups.

Family mailbox

Version 1.8.0 ·

  • A mailbox on the Today board, each person's board and the top bar. It turns red and wiggles when there's something new.
  • Kids write to parents; parents write to anyone.
  • Requests with Accept / Decline, which can become to-dos.
  • Parents can send a kid a chore, with XP and "Needs my OK".
  • Bold, lists, checklists and emoji; a message can be changed or unsent until it's opened.

Late cutoffs and remembered private

Version 1.7.2 ·

  • "To do today" shows only what's due or repeats today. Late to-dos from the past week have their own list.
  • To-dos more than a week late leave the boards; a note points to Calendar & lists.
  • Coming up shows each repeating thing once, on its next day.
  • "Show private" is remembered on the device until you hide it.

Complete / View on person boards

Version 1.7.1 ·

  • Tapping a row on a person's board shows a big Complete button and a View button, instead of ticking it straight away.
  • Done items move to a folded "Done today" list, where they can be undone.
  • Read-only calendar events only offer View.

Personal Today boards

Version 1.7.0 ·

  • Tabs along the Today board: Family, then one per person with how many to-dos they have left today.
  • Each person's board: to do today, today's schedule, the next 7 days and other to-dos.
  • Calendar status: when each calendar last updated, "Sync now" and "New" tags.
  • Private items stay hidden unless that person is using the device.

"Only me" calendar links

Version 1.6.1 ·

  • A person's calendar link can be set to "Only <name>": its events show only when that person is using TabletTasx.

Google & Outlook accounts

Version 1.6.0 ·

  • Connect a Google or Outlook account (Settings → Calendars). Its appointments show on that person's calendar and board.
  • To-dos from Google Tasks or Microsoft To Do become that person's to-dos. Ticking one off here ticks it off there too.
  • A standout + New button and an amber Quick button.

Today board button and tooltips

Version 1.5.1 ·

  • A big "Today board" button in the top bar.
  • A bolder "Open calendar & lists" button on the Today board.
  • Mouse-over tooltips on computers.
  • The top bar makes room on narrow screens.

New is always there, plus Quick add

Version 1.5.0 ·

  • New and Quick always show. In Family view they ask "Who is adding?" first.
  • Quick add: type several to-dos, one per line, each with its own date and priority.
  • New and Quick on the Today board.

Themes everywhere

Version 1.4.0 ·

  • Modern Dark and Modern Light cover every screen and pop-up.

Clearer Modern themes

Version 1.3.1 ·

  • More contrast, faded past days, and the Inter font on computers.

Themes

Version 1.3.0 ·

  • Settings → Appearance: Default, Modern Dark or Modern Light, saved per device.
  • Modern: event chips in each person's colour, and avatars in the top bar.

Item details fixes

Version 1.2.1 ·

  • Change and Delete always show. In Family view or kid mode they ask for a parent's PIN.
  • A readable Done button.
  • Deleting a repeating item asks: only this one, or all of them.
  • In Family view, ticking a chore counts for the person whose turn it is.

Kid mode, Today board and calendars

Version 1.2.0 ·

  • "Who's using this?": everyone taps their picture, and parents unlock with a PIN.
  • Kids tick only their own chores. A chore can need a parent's OK before the XP is given.
  • Chores for several kids: each does their own, or they take turns.
  • The Today board: a big clock, a card per person, and tomorrow along the bottom.
  • Subscribe to school, sports, Google, Outlook or iCloud calendar links.
  • Birthday reminders, and multi-day events on every day they cover.

Fixes from the review

Version 1.1.0 ·

  • Nothing is lost when syncing: offline edits, undo and restore survive.
  • Repeating chores that weren't done are marked missed, not done, and their dates no longer drift.
  • Goals can be created again, plus many calendar, form, notes and lists fixes.
  • A safer server: address checks, a confirmed reset and size limits.

The first version

Version 1.0.0 ·

  • Calendar, tasks, lists, notes, birthdays and goals for the family, on a tablet.
  • Syncs through a server on the home PC.
